Thankful for Response
Posted by Over the Kohls on Friday, September 22, 2006 5:03:59 PM
Charlie Rangel, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer's rebuke of Hugo Chavez's personal attack on President Bush were welcome additions to the debate. I'm glad that someone spoke up and basically told Hugo Chavez to shut his mouth. I wish that President Bush would have done the same rather than turn the other cheek and say that Chavez's comments were not worthy of a response. They
were
worthy of a response because Bush's cause in this world is not imperialistic. When has American ever been such? The answer.... never. We are not in this fight to take territory or to take resources from other countries. We don't have to do that. If all we wanted from Iraq was oil, all we had to do is buy it. We don't need to take it and have to incur the expense of our soldiers lives and national treasury. No, we do it for one reason only.... to protect the people of the United States. Instability in the Middle East is a threat to our people. Witness 911 and other terrorist acts against our country.
So all these rantings by Chavez and Ahmadinejad are way off base and out of line and do require a sharp response. Thank you, Mr. Rangel, Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Schumer
