Why wouldn’t the British Navy come to the assistance of their own sailors when they were hijacked 2 weeks ago? I’d like to believe the Brits when they say they were in Iraqi waters and not Iranian waters when this all happened but if they are telling the truth, why did they let the soft Iranians waltz off with 15 Brits? Nothing makes sense in this episode to me. A) If the Brits were in Iraqi waters supposedly at the mandate of the UN, then the Iranians must have been trespassing in Iraqi waters. Why did the Brits let that happen and not escort them back into Iranian waters? B) How do the Brits just sit and watch the Iranians capture their sailors without any effort to save them or fight back? It defies credulity.
Further, the nearly comic posturing from the Brits in all this; the huffing, the puffing, the meaningless threats (“The Iranians will risk becoming further isolated”) that would make a 3 year old snicker in reply, is just so ‘Jimma Cahter’- like, that its frightening in its weakness.
I’m sorry, but I feel that the Brits are either guilty of trespassing and just won’t admit it or if they weren’t trespassing are even more guilty in the eyes of free people of the world for not having made any effort to stand up for themselves and 15 sailors. Which is it?
