More on the Democrat Debate last night. When the discussion came to Pakistan, Bill Richardson came up with an astounding statement. He said that the United States should ask President Musharraf to step down because has not actively hunted down Osama bin Laden for the United States in spite of all the millions that we send to Pakistan. That may be a valid criticism of Musharraf but to ask him to step down? Pakistan just happens to be a democratic country, a very important ally of the United States which happens to be located in a very dangerous part of the world, the belly of the beast, with Musharraf its freely elected President. With all this, here is Bill Richardson running for President, telling the world that the United States should insist that Musharraf step down. Is that not the very definition of chutzpah? How does the United States tell the President of another country to step down? Does this not show contempt for the people that elected him? This is not only a very arrogant position but also tells you something of the mindset of Liberals when they assume power. These Democratic debates are very enlightening as they give us a window into the souls of Democrats.
