WWOD? (What Would Obama Do?)

Our world is a dangerous and volatile place right now: from Iraq to Iran, from the Gaza Strip to Pakistan, from Kosovo to Turkey, from the Sudan to Columbia, from the Mexican border to North Korea. We have a right to expect that our President will do what is right not only to protect the citizens of the United States but also our national interests as well. We know full well what John McCain will do for our country. He has proven himself time and again. One thing he won’t do is bring dishonor to our country by meeting with dictators who have made a mockery of human rights such as Castro or his successor. Or with Ahmadinejad, who continues supply the enemy in Iraq with weapons that are killing our soldiers. Or with Hugo Chavez who has mocked our President and our country. None of these thugs will ever get to sit across the table from John McCain, if he is president, granting them immediate legitimacy.

But WWOD? Obama said he would open up a dialogue with Ahmadinejad. At the same time Obama is sitting across the table with Mahmaoud, bombs could be going off in Iraq killing our soldiers. At the same time, Iran would be speeding their way toward nuclear bomb capability. But Obama thinks just meeting with our enemies would be a good thing.. Meanwhile the world sees the thug Ahmadinejad at the same table with the President of the United States and believes him to be on par with the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

Another thing we could expect McCain to do is to honor our treaty commitments.  When a friend is in trouble, McCain will be there to help. If Israel is ever attacked, they can count on McCain to be there for them.  WWOD? Obama may not be so steadfast with our friends and neighbors. If Hamas begins a push to overrun Israel, will President Obama send arms support and stand guard off shore ready to aid our friend and ally? Doubtful.

If Crazy Hugo in Venezuela decides in a fog of self-induced, drug related, stupor to invade Columbia, which has been trying to defend itself from the drug warlords that Chavez supports, we would have every reason to expect that McCain would honor our commitment to Columbia. In their time of need, McCain would use every means at his disposal to urge Chavez to stop and intercede if necessary. WWOD? Based on what Obama has said, he would sit down with this fiend to find out why Chavez FEELS the way he does and try to understand the underlying reasons for such behavior and try to get at the root cause of the issues. Meanwhile, Bogota becomes a suburb of Caracas.

The Dems have recited over and over how much they want to restore prestige that they claim has been lost since Bush took office.  The reason for this so-called drop in prestige is that we are going after Islamic extremism everywhere it is found.  Bush said that 911 changed everything and it certainly did. No longer are we going to be patsies for these thugs and we went on offense. McCain isn’t going to change this policy. He has said he plans to wipe out radical Islamic extremism. WWOD?  Obama says he will open the dialogue with all these America haters which will only serve to give them breathing room, giving them comfort that America will look the other way while they breed more hatred toward free people everywhere and threaten weaker democracies around the world.

These are only a few of the foreign policy issues on which McCain and Obama differ but it’s clear to me that the type of “Change” that Obama promotes is not in the best interest of this country.
