Having More Fun Than...

Rush Limbaugh says nearly everyday that he is "having more fun than a human being ought to be allowed to have". For Republicans, the events of the last 3 weeks make the case:
The hateful and anti-American antics of Rev. Wright
The political contortions of Obama as he defends his 20 year affiliation with his hateful pastor and the church.
The sniping between the Obama and Hillary camps regarding the Rev. Wright comments.
The blind defense of these anti-American comments by the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
Geraldine Ferraro being tossed off of and under the Hillary Tour bus.
The beginnings of the break up of the Black American voting block.
Off the election trail, the salacious Eliot Spitzer story and his successor David Paterson's tale of sex, lies and videotape.
The beginning of the impeachment proceedings in Detroit of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Everyday brings out another revelation and each day we can watch it like a Democrat Party Soap Opera. And just like most soap operas, if you had turned it off 10 years ago during the Monica Lewinsky episode and then came back to it today, the themes are all the same. The only thing different would be the actors themselves, but the actors all belong to the same union.

Obama's Mr. Wright

This week we have been treated to samples of the rantings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barak Obama’s minister for the last 20 years. Obama is doing his best soft shoe right now telling the media "don't look at that man behind the curtain". He said that he has not heard the good Reverend make any such statements like this personally and he said that had he heard such comments as these, he would have objected to these comments and may well have quit that church. One of two things must be true here:  either Obama is a member of that church in name only and has been there only infrequently, which makes a lie out his statement that Wright is his mentor and helped him find Jesus Christ or he is fully aware of the hatred that Wright has for America, has been a contributing member of the church for 20 years, was married in that church, his children were baptized in that church and Wright was such an influence that Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope” is titled after a sermon that Wright gave in that church. In the latter case, Obama statement that he was not aware of Wrights anti-American screed is a total lie.

For us to believe that he has been a contributing member for 20 years and not have an inkling of Wrights beliefs is equivalent to saying that you’ve both watched CNN and read the New York Times for 20 years and was not aware that both are shills for the Dems. To say that strains credulity and one must be totally naïve to believe it.

Americans still don’t know Obama because the press has given him a total pass thus far and this Jeremiah Wright incident gives the American people a little insight to man who would be president. The layers of the Obama onion are starting to be peeled off and once that happens, the American people may not like what they smell inside.

Michigan, Florida, Super Delegates and “Who’s On First”?

The delegate mess in Michigan and Florida that the Dems find themselves in is entirely of their own making. The DNC told both states that if they break the DNC rules and move their primary date, they will not have any delegates placed at the convention. But being the good Dems that they are, having themselves learned at the foot of the master, Bill Clinton, both Florida and Michigan Democrat party leaders chose to defy the party rules because rules are for suckers.  So they move the primaries, chaos ensues, as Obama does not even get on the Michigan ballot and does not campaign in either state. Hillary, the experienced cheater that she is, slyly campaigns in Michigan, wins the state and now wants it to count.  Both states, now considering a do-over, are now bickering over how much it will cost and I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked McCain to pay for it.

The Dems also have the so-called Super Delegates who are there solely because the Dems do not trust the American people.  Even registered Democrat voters can’t be trusted to make the right decision because the Dem establishment knows best and has appointed the king makers to oversee the election process just in case the ignorant electorate veers off the sponsored course. There are 842 appointed, non-elected, Super Delegates, 40% of the total delegates count. So if it’s a close race, as it is now, the Dem establishment can pick exactly whoever they want to pick regardless of the voice of the people. And the Dems claim be the party of the people - - - Hardy-Har-Har.

Then there is Hillary and Obama doing their best Abbott and Costello act, asking “Who’s on First?” Hillary, with amazing chutzpah that we have come to expect from the Clintons, has tossed out the insane possibility that you can get two for the price of one with Hillary, of course, on top of the ticket. Obama, incredulous as you might expect, dismissed the notion out of hand as well he should. There is not a snowball’s chance in hell that either one will serve as VP for the other.  Hillary may very well want to have Obama as her VP to bring to the ticket the obvious benefits. But Obama would have to be nuts to be her VP and have the Clinton baggage hanging over his head after her administration leaves office in 8 years. (God help us)

On the other hand, Obama, should he go on the win the nomination, would have to be committed to an institution for even considering Hillary as a VP.  There are not enough Secret Service Agents available to cover his back and knees from Clinton attacks and undercutting.  If Obama wins the nomination, the Clinton era is over. However, all of this does make for interesting viewing for the political junkie.

Job losses? Yes. But a Little Perspective, Please.

A lot has been made over the net loss of jobs for two consecutive months Jan, 2008  -22,000 and Feb., 2008 -63,000. I don’t think that there is any question that we are in an economic decline with the massive amount of bad news coming out on a daily basis.  It may be a recession, it may not. The Dems are trying to make points on the issue of the economy and how badly we need to change from the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration. Can I show you some statistics from the U. S Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics?

For 4 consecutive years, 48 straight months, even longer if you include the last 4 months of 2003, our economy expanded and jobs grew at an astounding rate. Look at the annual increases. Over 2 million new jobs were created in each of 2004-2006, although the rate of increase slowed in 2007 indicating that the economy is slowing. So for the last two months we have lost a total of 85,000 jobs and that has been given vastly more coverage than the 7,808,000 new jobs gained over the previous 4 years.  But we are still ahead by 7,723,000 jobs for the last 4 years.

Is the focus on the job losses fair? Yes, it’s fair to note that we are in an economic slump but is it fair to say that the policies of the Bush Administration have been a failure? Absolutey not.  McCain has all statistics his disposal and I hope that he has the ability to effectively articulate them to ward off the Dem Doomsayers.   One thing for sure, both Dem candidates will raise taxes as soon as they possibly can on American wage earners, American business owners and corporations. That is not going to help create jobs in any way and most thinking people know that this will only reduce jobs and opportunities for employment.

WWOD? (What Would Obama Do?)

Our world is a dangerous and volatile place right now: from Iraq to Iran, from the Gaza Strip to Pakistan, from Kosovo to Turkey, from the Sudan to Columbia, from the Mexican border to North Korea. We have a right to expect that our President will do what is right not only to protect the citizens of the United States but also our national interests as well. We know full well what John McCain will do for our country. He has proven himself time and again. One thing he won’t do is bring dishonor to our country by meeting with dictators who have made a mockery of human rights such as Castro or his successor. Or with Ahmadinejad, who continues supply the enemy in Iraq with weapons that are killing our soldiers. Or with Hugo Chavez who has mocked our President and our country. None of these thugs will ever get to sit across the table from John McCain, if he is president, granting them immediate legitimacy.

But WWOD? Obama said he would open up a dialogue with Ahmadinejad. At the same time Obama is sitting across the table with Mahmaoud, bombs could be going off in Iraq killing our soldiers. At the same time, Iran would be speeding their way toward nuclear bomb capability. But Obama thinks just meeting with our enemies would be a good thing.. Meanwhile the world sees the thug Ahmadinejad at the same table with the President of the United States and believes him to be on par with the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

Another thing we could expect McCain to do is to honor our treaty commitments.  When a friend is in trouble, McCain will be there to help. If Israel is ever attacked, they can count on McCain to be there for them.  WWOD? Obama may not be so steadfast with our friends and neighbors. If Hamas begins a push to overrun Israel, will President Obama send arms support and stand guard off shore ready to aid our friend and ally? Doubtful.

If Crazy Hugo in Venezuela decides in a fog of self-induced, drug related, stupor to invade Columbia, which has been trying to defend itself from the drug warlords that Chavez supports, we would have every reason to expect that McCain would honor our commitment to Columbia. In their time of need, McCain would use every means at his disposal to urge Chavez to stop and intercede if necessary. WWOD? Based on what Obama has said, he would sit down with this fiend to find out why Chavez FEELS the way he does and try to understand the underlying reasons for such behavior and try to get at the root cause of the issues. Meanwhile, Bogota becomes a suburb of Caracas.

The Dems have recited over and over how much they want to restore prestige that they claim has been lost since Bush took office.  The reason for this so-called drop in prestige is that we are going after Islamic extremism everywhere it is found.  Bush said that 911 changed everything and it certainly did. No longer are we going to be patsies for these thugs and we went on offense. McCain isn’t going to change this policy. He has said he plans to wipe out radical Islamic extremism. WWOD?  Obama says he will open the dialogue with all these America haters which will only serve to give them breathing room, giving them comfort that America will look the other way while they breed more hatred toward free people everywhere and threaten weaker democracies around the world.

These are only a few of the foreign policy issues on which McCain and Obama differ but it’s clear to me that the type of “Change” that Obama promotes is not in the best interest of this country.

Fair Weather Voters

Mother Nature is going to test the resolve of Ohio voters tomorrow.  Ohio will be in the process of a huge changeover in weather from the balmy 64 degrees in Northern Ohio today to freezing rain, snow, and high winds which would normally keep many sane people at home. But we've all heard how energized the Dems are this year especially the Obama supporters so we would expect these diehard Obama and Hillary supporters to brave the weather and head for the polls in great numbers. But we'll see about that. On the one hand, Obama's great organization has brought out voters in great numbers. But this advantage could be hampered by the weather. On the other hand, Hillary has been drawing great support from the senior citizens who we would expect to stay home in large numbers if the weather is as bad as predicted.  Weather should not affect the young voters nearly as much but if the weather is as bad as they say it will be, they may be distracted enough to just stay home in bed tomorrow.  If the candidates are counting on first time voters to show up tomorrow in great numbers, my feeling is that first timers, not accustomed to the voting process and, as many people are, resistant to change in their course of their daily lives, will skip it tomorrow if Mother Nature makes it the least bit difficult.

It will be interesting to see the exit polling to see which of the candidate's supporters were motivated enough to brave the weather and get out to vote. It could have a large bearing on the turnout come November.

Rabbit Eared Obama

One thing that has been clear in this campaign is that Obama’s hearing is as sharp as his ears are big. This week alone, Obama has answered back in lightening speed fashion both an ad by the Clinton campaign challenging his inexperience and a quip by McCain regarding Obama’s plan to exit from Iraq.  Obama turned around the “Who will answer the phone at the White House” ad by the Clinton campaign with a response at a speech yesterday and with a very quick ad of his own.  Earlier, McCain challenged Obama’s Iraq quick exit plan and Obama’s readiness to reinvade in the event that al-Qaeda returns to Iraq with “I’ve got a news flash for Obama, al-Qaeda is already in Iraq”.  It seemed like mere moments later that Obama responded to McCain by saying “I’ve got news for John McCain, al-Qaeda was not in Iraq when Bush and McCain went into Iraq.”

Actually, I admire the quick response by Obama to charges against him. It’s one of the things that has always bothered me about George Bush during his two terms in office. He was either too slow or a no show in responding to criticism especially when he had the ammunition to fire back and make strong points on his own behalf . But he never was able make his own case to the American people which was a major factor in his low approval ratings.

Now Obama seems to have learned from Bush’s failings and has been very quick at the trigger. I’m wondering if McCain, being an old military guy, may be able exploit Obama’s tendency to react quickly and set a trap for the 3 year Senator from Illinois.  Why not use Obama’s own inexperience against him?  Let’s hear Obama respond to a statement like “If Obama gets his way and the troops leave Iraq leaving a vacuum for al-Quada to return, who will be responsible then for the slaughter of potentially millions of Iraqis who supported the U.S. troops and their mission?  al-Qaeda will certainly butcher anyone who was a supporter of the U.S. effort and those crimes against humanity will be on a scale that would make Pol Pot and Joseph Stalin proud.” Would Obama respond to that statement? Would a lack of a response be more telling than an actual response?

How about criticizing Obama’s lack of support for the renewal of the Patriot Act and FISA Acts both of which have kept us safe since 9-11?  Obama doesn’t take kindly to criticism and McCain may be able to draw out many of Obama’s very liberal positions and use those against him in the early campaign volleys. The Rabbit eared Obama may not be able to resist the bait.

It's Right There in Black and White

I can understand how Black Americans would feel the urge to vote for Barak Obama. We are really starting to see this trend as the primaries roll out. From the last few primaries, we've seen 80% of black men and 72% of black women vote for Obama. In the Virginia Primary, 93% of black men voted for Obama while 85% of black women voted for him.  On the other hand, we've seen white voters express a more enlightened view voting for Obama as though the racial component does not exist.  In Missouri, 39% of white men and 38% of white women voted for Obama and in Virginia, 56% of white men and 45% of white women, voted for Obama.

If Obama is to win the Democratic nomination, this trend will have to hold. But my guess is that as the closeness of the Democratic race requires that the primaries continue and have meaning, the clearly racial component of the black vote will begin to offend white voters in this country and have a backlash effect.  As we proceed through primary season, it really doesn't matter, to most white Republicans at least, who the Dems vote for. But if Obama beats Hillary with blacks clearly voting along racial lines, I think that many moderate, white Democrats and Independents will be offended with the expectation that blacks will vote for the black candidate but if whites were to do the same, that would be somehow frowned upon, that whites should in this case look the other way while blacks vote along racial lines.

I just don't think that is going to work for the blacks or the Dems. We have already seen what Slick Willie tried to do in South Carolina. He clearly made reference to the fact that blacks were voting in large numbers for Obama in S.C just like they did for Jesse Jackson years ago and indication that blacks were making racial distinctions in this election. Of course, Slick was reprimanded by many in his own party and by main stream media as well for such a rash statement.  All Slick did was predict the future. Up to that time, blacks had not been a factor, as the early primaries were in Iowa and New Hampshire, states with very few black voters.   As we now get into the states with higher concentrations of blacks, we see that they indeed are using the race card and I think that in the general election many white voters will see this for what it is and react in a way just the opposite of what Dems and blacks are hoping for in November.

State of the Union 2008

Just a few observations as the President gives his speech:

The gamesmanship at these addresses is funny.  One side gets up, the other stays down. Dems have to look at one another wondering "should we stand up or stay down?  Do we applaud or not?" The Dems look for leadership and none is to be found.  I have a suggestion for confused Dems, check out Leiberman.

Good line. "Over the last year we have killed hundreds of al-Qaeda leaders and operatives." No applause.

I applauded.

Bush thanks the troops for their hard work and sacrifice. Both sides of the aisle rise and hail the troops. Then,
Bush asks to fully fund the troops. Republicans lustily lead the cheers. Dems look at one another and one by one slowly and reluctantly rise, shifting from one foot to the other. Pathetic.

Bush is talking about success in Iraq. Pelosi is reading "People Magazine".

The subject of Iran comes up. Many Dems head for the lavatory.  Bush says we will defend our interest in the Persian Gulf. The Republicans rise in unison, the Dems are doing the "Wave".

Bush asks for an increase in funding to prevent the spread of AIDS.  Gay lobby makes Pelosi jump.

"We the People" Bush says we need to trust the people to run their own lives and keep government intervention minimal.  Dems have no clue what he's talking about.

Speech over. Analysis begins.  Dem response will be predictable.

I'm Just Sayin' .........

I'm not the biggest fan of John McCain. He has his obvious problems for true conservatives. For starters, McCain-Feingold legislation, McCain-Kennedy Immigration Bill, the Gang of 14, his position on closing GITMO, his position on waterboarding, he voted against the Bush tax cuts and his statements supporting the global warming alarmists is a real finger in the eye of conservatives. But on the other hand there are certain conservative principals on which he is very strong and has full support of even the most far right conservatives: his strong support of our effort in Iraq and the will to win it, his firm anti-terrorism stance, his willingness to crush al-Qaeda wherever it shows itself, a firm supporter of a strong and ready military, he has always been a pro-life hero and pledges to appoint conservative judges.

The primaries are the right arena for voters to make their preferences for president known. If the voters prefer a truer conservative like Romney, they will vote for him, but there is still a presidency to win against the Democrat candidate in November and even a far right conservative will prefer a McCain over Clinton or Obama. Again I have not made up my mind yet for a Republican candidate. They are all good in my mind. Any one of them is better than a Dem but just for arguments sake, what if McCain is the Republican standard bearer in November?
How will the Clinton attack machine go after McCain in the general election?  Which of the issues is McCain susceptible on?

Certainly the War in Iraq will be one of them. But my feeling is that most of the country does not want the US to lose in Iraq and also feels that a stable Iraq is a good thing for not only the US but also the world. So I think McCain will prevail on Iraq.

Hillary may attack him for his strong anti-terrorism position and support of the Patriot Bill and position on FISA. Here again, his military history and long record as a civil servant will, I believe, enable him to fend off attacks from this angle.

Hillary will use his pro-life stance against him particularly with the woman vote. McCain will not convince the far left on this issue but neither will any other Republican.

But on the following issues, he may be a difficult target for the Left:
        Immigration Policy
        Corruption in government
        GITMO
        Waterboarding/Torture
        Global Warming

On all these issues, most of the other Republican candidates will have trouble defending themselves but McCain is virtually insulated on these from Democrat attack. So McCain, while not the darling of conservatives, may be just conservative enough for most Republicans come November when put up against any Democrat.

Again, I'm not crazy about the guy, but I'm just sayin'...

8 More Years of Der Schlichmeister?

Has Hillary vanished over the the top of the hill and left Billy Boy to carry the water until November? Is it just me or do I see less and less of Hillary and more and more of Clinton 42?  Of course the MSM just can't resist the offerings of William Jefferson. Even Fox News finds him irresistible as Fox fell all over themselves to get an interview with him at the Nevada primary. I can't really blame them for that but Slick Willie truly loves and indeed craves the attention.  The Stainmaster is truly starting to dominate not only the news but also the campaign itself. Yesterday, we saw Barak Hussein Obama vow to confront Bill Clinton directly over statements that are not factually accurate. Well gee, with Clinton, that covers a lot of territory. But for one of the leading candidates for president on the Democrat side to get into a sparing match with the "spouse" of another candidate for president, is just a little abnormal.  However, this may become the norm as we move forward toward the November election and God forbid if Hillary were to actually win the election, become the norm for the next 8 years. Hillary is having trouble now keeping the genie in the bottle and now that he is out, I'm afraid even Nurse Ratched may never get the former proprietor of the Lincoln Bedroom Bed and Breakfast back in the bottle.

But in reality, the media doesn't want him back in the bottle. They are all too happy to have him back in the White House pulling the strings of the Executive office and orchestrating the liberal point of view for the world. The question that Conservatives and Republicans have to ask themselves is, can the country survive another Clintonian assault of the White House and can Conservatives withstand the mental "waterboarding" that another 8 years of the Clintons would represent?

Windows Democrat Style

More on the Democrat Debate last night. When the discussion came to Pakistan, Bill Richardson came up with an astounding statement. He said that the United States should ask President Musharraf to step down because has not actively hunted down Osama bin Laden for the United States in spite of all the millions that we send to Pakistan.  That may be a valid criticism of Musharraf but to ask him to step down?  Pakistan just happens to be a democratic country, a very important ally of the United States which happens to be located in a very dangerous part of the world, the belly of the beast, with Musharraf its freely elected President.  With all this, here is Bill Richardson running for President, telling the world that the United States should insist that Musharraf step down. Is that not the very definition of chutzpah? How does the United States tell the President of another country to step down? Does this not show contempt for the people that elected him? This is not only a very arrogant position but also tells you something of the mindset of Liberals when they assume power.   These Democratic debates are very enlightening as they give us a window into the souls of Democrats.

Agents of Change?

Watching the Democrat debate tonight on ABC confirms to me that Liberals will say anything and do anything to get back into power. When I hear their responses to the question "what would you do in the event of nuclear attack on America" all of the candidates said that they would retaliate on any country that was responsible for the attack or harbored a terrorist organization that was responsible for the attack.

After attacking George Bush for years for having made a huge mistake for starting the Iraq War, they now agree that any country that supports terrorism would be attacked. In other words, they all support the Bush Doctrine.  I've had enough of the Dems hypocrisy and their revisionist history.  When the US was attacked on 9-11, we immediately went after Afghanistan and we also then went after Saddam because he was a state sponsor of terror, harbored terrorists and financed terrorist activity. This is well documented. Bill Clinton himself called for regime change in Iraq in 1998.  So tonight we hear that these so-called Democrat "Agents of Change" would do exactly the same thing to any supporter of terrorism, regardless of whether or not the attackers were from that particular country.  What I heard the Dems say tonight is that it doesn’t matter which country the attackers were from, it doesn’t matter if the attackers even have a country, if you are a supporter of the terrorists , you are the enemy and will be attacked.   How can the media let them get away with such duplicity?  I think we all know the answer to that question. But thank goodness for Conservative Talk Radio, for Fox News Channel and legion of Bloggers that will diligently point out these inconsistencies.

Things I'd Like to See in 2008

A successful conclusion to the Iraq war.  For those on you on the Left who never seem to know what a successful conclusion is, it is one in which the Iraq is stabilized to the point that Iraq can control and govern themselves and keep the region safe from Islamic extremists allowing our troops to leave the region.

A Republican Surge in November maintaining the White House and regaining control of the House and Senate.

A serious effort to stop illegal immigration. Build the border fence, penalize employers who hire illegals to the detriment of our American workers and our sovereignty.

Continuation of the Bush Tax Cuts. Where would we be without them? The Dems want to repeal the tax cuts but repeal will result in a huge tax increase for the American workforce, will stunt economic growth and investment and increase unemployment. Other than that, repealing the tax cuts is a great idea.

Global Warming Theorists Debunked. Despite their claims of “consensus” on the issue, there is no consensus whatsoever about what is truly causing warming.  What is consensus is that the Left wants to demagogue this issue and damage the United States role as economic leader of the world. Has anyone seen Beijing lately? Of course not. You can’t see it because of all the pollution there. Do you think for one minute that China and India will ever change its ways and conform to Kyoto Treaty-type mandates? Not likely. All this does is put the United States at further disadvantage in world markets.  Likely result: lost investment, lost growth and lost jobs.

and last but certainly not least...

A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year for Everyone....even Liberals.

Why We Fight

For those on the Left who want to know why it is that the United States continues to wage war on the terrorists, today’s assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan is a classic example.  The Ron Paul, John Murtha and Dennis Kucinich types say that our continued presence in all parts of the world is what foments all the anger in the Islamist world, but how do you explain this today?  Yes, Pakistan is a key ally of the USA in the War on Terror but we have no presence there. We have no bases there.  Just because Pakistan is a US ally, does this mean that all US Allies are targets for the Islamic haters?  Many also say that US support for Israel is the root cause of the terror attacks but where exactly is the Israeli involvement in this murder?  There is no Israeli link here.

The bottom line is that the Islamic terrorists, through their corrupt ideology, want to spread Sharia Law to all parts of the globe and will seize on any opportunity to do so. This is exactly why the United States and its allies in the war on terror have to be alert at all times and seek out the pockets of terror and destroy them.  It’s a war that just may never end because this hateful ideology will never fully die but if "free people" rise up against it wherever it is found and crush it in its place, rather than hide in fear, it can be defeated.  Just another reason that the US needs to support efforts of those who desire to be free.  It's a matter of self defense.
